The South Shore Community Center Nursery School is dedicated to fostering the development of the total child. Just as every child is unique so are the families we serve. Our mission is to provide children and their families a happy, safe, inclusive learning environment where individuality is valued.
It is the philosophy of the South Shore Community Center Nursery School that children be encouraged to learn and grow by providing a foundation of developmentally appropriate experiences. We strive to create a place where all children can succeed in a safe and nurturing environment.
We are part of the South Shore Community Center (SSCC). The SSCC’s purpose is to maintain an organization for the civic, social, charitable, educational and recreational betterment of the town and surrounding communities. We have been fostering and encouraging this purpose by providing quality programs from infant to adult for over 40 years. We provide a range of classes including cooking, bowling, gym classes, health and wellness seminars and more.
The Yellow Room is for 2 & 3 year old children. This program provides an opportunity to learn through play. Children will be immersed in language and song during their time in school. Teachers will create developmentally appropriate experiences to encourage language, social skills, physical development, and literacy. Our Yellow Room Program is for children that will be 2 by September 1.
The Red Room is for 3 & 4 year old children. The children work on autonomy and building positive relationships with teachers and peers. Children are supported during social interactions by teacher modeling and encouragement. Teachers provide multi-sensory experiences to promote learning and success. Our Red Room program is for children that will be 3 by October 1.
The Blue Room is for children ages
4 & 5. This program offers open-ended activities to encourage flexible thinking and problem solving. Children are given many opportunities to build literacy, practice writing, pre-reading and math skills. The program focuses on building the organizational and self help skills necessary for a solid start in Kindergarten. Curriculum is purposefully structured to help children gain confidence in their abilities, become responsible for themselves and show empathy for others. Our Blue Room program is for children that will be 4 by October 1.
